Mead Making, a Retrospective

I'll be honest folks, brewing is both easier and harder than you would think. I don't know much about it, I've only ever done it one time and from what I understand, it seems like mead is particularly simple compared to some other options.

That said, I really didn't expect the hard parts to be what they were. My floor is still sticky from all of the mead I spilled while I was trying to bottle it, because as it turns out, siphons don't just stop when you decide a bottle is full. Nevertheless, I got all of the mead into bottles, and now it's all just kind of sitting there.

Other challenges included my yeast taking a few days to get started, and then subsequently way over-pressurizing the carboy so that everything started trying to push out of the top. Of course, there was also my dogs randomly stealing things and trying to sabotage me.

There's not much more to this story, this is honestly more of a personal rant more than anything else. The only thing left is to think about what I'm going to do next time. Personally, I want to try making cider, I think it sounds fun and if I can figure out the flavoring it'll be really good too. If not that, I'd love to try making some cherry mead or something, but we'll see how it goes.
